樂團以堅定的專注探索聲響與動態的可能，不斷開拓嶄新的抒情維度。每件樂器都以細緻而精準的方式融入整體聲響之中，共同塑造出富有表現力的音樂視野。

這個樂團的成立始於 Antoine Spranger 在薩格勒布舉行的 International Association of Schools of Jazz Meeting 上，遇見深耕巴黎爵士樂圈的貝斯手 Matis Regnault。兩人之間立即產生的音樂默契，自然促成了合作計畫的誕生。

最初的編制是與 Antoine 長期合作的鼓手 Tobias Frohnhöfer 組成三重奏。到了 2023 年，來自巴黎的薩克斯風手 Ludovic Ernault 加入，正式完成四重奏編制。此後，樂團持續在法國與德國各地演出。

對於樂團而言，一個重要的里程碑是 2020 年獲得巴登—符騰堡藝術基金會（Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg）獎學金。2023 年，四重奏在瑞士盧加諾著名的 ECM 錄音場地 Auditorio Stelio Molo 錄製了他們的首張專輯。

▌About the Performance

Led by French-German pianist Antoine Spranger, this quartet creates richly layered sonic landscapes through thoughtful compositions and subtle musical interaction. Inspired by modern jazz, Romanticism, and Expressionism, their music unfolds through memorable melodies, dynamic interplay, and a deeply narrative approach to improvisation.

With a strong commitment to exploring sound, texture, and dynamics, the ensemble continually seeks new lyrical dimensions within contemporary jazz. Each instrument contributes with remarkable sensitivity and precision, forming an expressive collective voice that is both intimate and expansive.

The origins of the quartet can be traced back to the International Association of Schools of Jazz Meeting in Zagreb, where Antoine Spranger met bassist Matis Regnault, an active figure in the Paris jazz scene. Their immediate musical connection naturally led to the formation of a collaborative project.

Initially conceived as a trio together with drummer Tobias Frohnhöfer, a longtime musical partner of Spranger, the group evolved into a quartet in 2023 with the addition of Paris-based saxophonist Ludovic Ernault. Since then, the ensemble has performed extensively throughout France and Germany.

An important milestone in the group’s development came in 2020, when Antoine Spranger was awarded a scholarship by the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg (Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation). In 2023, the quartet recorded its debut album at the renowned Auditorio Stelio Molo in Lugano, Switzerland, one of the most celebrated recording venues associated with the ECM sound.

Through a unique balance of compositional depth, collective sensitivity, and adventurous improvisation, Antoine Spranger Quartet represents a compelling new voice in contemporary European jazz.
